Vegan People & Places
Farm Animal Sanctuary Directory: The Most Comprehensive List (US Based)
Farm animal sanctuaries are amazing, however the sites currently showcasing them do so with low effort lists that barely top 50 locations.
To properly represent these wonderful places, I’ve researched and found over 200 farm animal sanctuaries in the USA and put them on this comprehensive page.
Instead of simply listing sanctuaries, here you’ll find:
- Every US-based farm sanctuary by state
- A map for each state’s sanctuaries
- A quick overview of the sanctuary: Where it is, animals they care for, social media accounts, contact info, and a little about the sanctuary
By browsing this list, you’ll find a sanctuary near you that you can visit, follow on social media, volunteer for, and/or donate to.

About Farm Animal Sanctuaries
Farm animal sanctuaries are different than a wildlife sanctuary, an equine sanctuary, or a pet animal sanctuary in that they’re typically meant to rescue farm animals from the terrors of factory farms and the animal agriculture industry.
They’re a great place to see another facet of veganism. People can interact with and build compassion for animals that typically end up as someone’s dinner.
This list focuses exclusively on farm animal sanctuaries, and if I list some other kind of sanctuary is listed, like a wildlife sanctuary, it means they also house rescued farm animals.
Something to note, not every single farm animal sanctuary promotes a vegan lifestyle, so I will try to note when they do. Also, just because they don’t specifically mention they’re vegan, doesn’t mean they aren’t.
One more thing, not every sanctuary is set up for visitors. A great rule to follow is to message a sanctuary you’re interested first to see if they can currently accept visitors. Always check their site for details and always send a message if you want to visit.
If you’re ready to find a sanctuary, pick your state below:
